Allan and Wilson's Digital Illustration Program
Associate in Specialized Business Degree Program

Objective: This 16-month program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary for a career in the illustration art business. An illustrator is a fine artist who illustrates for books, magazines, newsletters, web sites, brochures, stamps, greeting cards, billboards, exhibits, murals, concept art, motion picture "mattes," and any commercial item. Students work with a range of traditional and digital media including watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and computer software. Final student portfolios contain illustrations for advertising, book (children’s books, book covers), sequential, institutional, editorial, fantasy and scientific/medical applications.

Most illustrators work on a freelance basis.
They may work for:

- magazines and newspapers,
- book publishing houses,
- film studios,
- advertising agencies,
- graphic design studios,
- printing houses.

Phil and Jim co-created "Allan and Wilson Animation Studio" in 1979, with their first half-hour children's animated special "Allison and the Magic Bubble," aired on HBO; followed by their second half-hour special, "A Star for Jeremy" which aired on Showtime and network TV in 1983. "A Star for Jeremy" won the bronze award from the International Film and Television Festival of New York. Phil and Jim also worked on animation for motion pictures and various TV commercials. Phil's works include, children's book illustration for The Disney Press, Warner Bros., The Bradford Exchange and Phil's amazingly technically accurate dinosaur illustrations have appeared in many publications over the past 12 years.
