DEC Cuts The Ribbon on the Massage Therapy Program

Another day, another ribbon cutting ceremony signaling expansion and growth here at Douglas Education Center. This time, DEC invited guests and officially opened the doors to the brand new facility on campus for the Massage Therapy Program.

In a ceremony held on June 10th, the DEC staff welcomed Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette Inc., Twin Rivers Chamber of Commerce, Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce, local business leaders, DEC Cosmetology Academy students and local employers to tour the brand new facility which will train students on the various modalities and sciences of massage therapy.

The attendees got to meet with Massage Therapy Program Coordinator Joanna McElwain, who designed the program based on her  own personal experience both as a professional massage therapist and a massage therapy instructor.

Douglas Education Center’s CEO Jeffrey Imbrescia talked about how important health and wellness have become in our society and DEC’s goal is to help promote that trend along with serving the local community with a bigger variety of educational opportunities.
