Douglas Education Center Opens New CDL Training Site

Douglas Education Center’s CDL program has expanded to Fayette County. Thanks to DEC’s partnership with the Private Industry Council (PIC) of Westmoreland County and their Dads Matter Program a new Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) training site was opened just last week at the Joseph A. Hardy Connsellsville Airport.

On hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony was DEC’s CEO and President, Jeffrey D. Imbrescia, who explained how the program, along with the new training site, will literally pave the way for fathers in three counties to train for their CDL license in order to obtain high-paying, in-demand jobs.

You can read all about the Dads Matter Program and the partnership with DEC to provide free CDL training in our previous blog post.

The Fayette County site will be dedicated to providing that free CDL training for the Dads Matter Program. To celebrate the opening of the new training site, DEC hosted Pennsylvania State Representative Bud Cook (R-49), State Senator Pat Stefano (R-32), Fayette County Commissioners Angela Zimmerlink, Dave Lohr and Vincent A. Vicites and with airport manager Bud Neckeraurer.  DEC staff was on hand to answer questions about the program and the valuable opportunities being offered for local dads.

Anyone interested in the program is encouraged to contact Douglas Admission Center’s Admissions Department at 724-684-DOUG (3684) for more information.
