Illustration Student Aaron Raybuck Shows Work at Two Pittsburgh Art Festivals
“Art is my main passion. I love the way emotions can be brought out from different techniques or subjects in artwork,” says Aaron Raybuck, a third semester student enrolled in the Allan and Wilson’s Digital Illustration Program at Douglas Education Center. Originally from Butler, PA, Aaron now resides in Washington, PA and commutes to DEC. He attributes being around all the many great artists at DEC that has taught him the most.
Raybuck likes all forms of art and music, but admits his medium of choice is painting in acrylics. His inspiration comes from his environment, be it music, other artists, and especially his natural surroundings.
“Nature inspires me more than anything else. If you take time to look at your surroundings, that is all the inspiration you need. Nature will always be the greatest artist. I am very inspired by James Jean lately. Joao Ruas is also a huge inspiration,” he says.
Aaron Raybuck recently showed several art pieces at RAW Pittsburgh at Club Zoo this past June.
His work will also be showcased at Unfinished Business on Penn Avenue in Bloomfield, PA. This 2nd installment of Unfinished Business explores the world of unfinished art. The exhibit is open to the public now through August 30 during evenings 7:00-10:00 p.m., or by appointment at 412-361-2262. A donation is requested. We recently asked Aaron some questions after his showing at RAW.
What inspired you guys to enter RAW?
I got inspired to check out RAW and what it was all about by seeing all of these awesome artists together doing something they love. I think it’s a great opportunity.
What do you hope to accomplish?
From this RAW showcase I hope to meet the other artists around my area and get some exposure. I just love platforms for artists to get together. That’s always a good thing.
Where do you get your artistic inspiration from and how does it help you develop your artistic style?
My artistic inspiration comes strongly from nature and really anything around me. The subjects I paint depend on my mood or what music I’m listening to that day.
What do you love most about being an artist?
I love all the different styles of artwork. It’s a great way to express yourself without words.
At what point did you first realize that you could make a career out of art?
I just have faith in myself that I will. This is the one thing I have always loved doing. No matter what’s going on around me, that never changes. I’m just gonna stick with it.
